This deal would be massive for all parties involved, but somehow, still seems a bit off-putting.

Miami gets the cap relief they’ve notably wanted for the past few seasons with sending Whiteside to Minnesota, but what do the Timberwolves get out of this?

Karl-Anthony Towns is arguably the best 3-point shooting big man in the NBA and he can barely get twelve shots up a game nowadays, there may be a positional issue with that. By letting Hassan Whiteside do everything Towns is unwilling or unable to do on the defensive end, KAT can be a force of nature at the stretch-four next to Whiteside.

This deal could be a diamond in the rough for Minnesota and their future schemes. As for the Heat, it gets a bit dicey.

Miami gets their 4-time All-Star in Jimmy Butler and they get a back up point guard to Goran Dragic in Tyus Jones, which seems like a great pick up. They do, however, lose a future first round pick and a second to Minnesota and Sacramento, and also their starting center in Whiteside (hoping that Bam Adebayo can fill that hole).

The Kings get three second round picks for taking in Gorgui Dieng’s contract, which just seems fair for what’s being asked of them. And as I’ve stated previously, the Kings need to start rebuilding for the next 3-4 years and not for this season, especially in the West, so this makes a lot of sense for them.

This deal seems a bit too massive to actually happen, but who knows after seeing that Houston/Chris Paul nonsense last off-season.

Here is our last trade idea between the Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves, this one is personally my favorite and it may just be the one that gets it done.
