The Phoenix Suns were added into this deal to contractually make this work, which could realistically be what happens with all of these three team trade rumors floating around.
In this scenario, the Timberwolves get two new starters in Eric Bledsoe and T.J. Warren and two new role players in John Henson and D.J. Wilson.
Defensively, the Timberwolves lose a lot at the wing position because Wiggins and Warren have size but they haven’t historically been effective on defense. But Eric Bledsoe’s relentless abilities at the guard would help release some stress when on defense – John Henson has also been seen to have a few good games at the rim.
Again, like most of these trades, the objective for the Timberwolves is to make a more well rounded roster and this does just that and more.
The Bucks get away from Bledsoe, which they’ve been rumored to be shopping him since his fit hasn’t exactly been natural. In return they get 4-time All-Star Jimmy Butler and a new center in Gorgui Dieng to play off the bench.
Milwaukee should make this deal because Butler is unquestionably a top-25 NBA player, but also to tell Giannis Antetokounmpo that they are trying to acquire talent because they want to win now, which is obviously important to tell your best player when they get out of a contract soon.
The Phoenix Suns get the point guard they’ve been waiting for in Jeff Teague, and while they’ve been rumored to want Tyus Jones, I didn’t have them making that deal in here because I believe the Wolves will want to keep his talents – unless they trade both guards away to the Suns who literally don’t have a point guard on their roster.
Our last trade idea is with the Washington Wizards, who reportedly are interested in Jimmy Butler and do have some nice assets to swap for him.
