Minnesota Timberwolves: 3 favorable Jeff Teague and Gorgui Dieng trades
By TJ Bain
The Timberwolves get rid of some big contracts on this trade and take a smart gamble on an ascending player in Caris LeVert.
Kenneth Faried is a high-energy big man that can get rebounds and excels at the pick-and-roll. The important part of this trade is that he is on a one year deal that expires at the end of the season; they could use a player of his high work ethic that values the team over the business.
Caris Levert is playing lights out this season but its only a small sample size of six games. However, with a career average of about 11 points per game, Levert is scoring more than 20 points per game already this year. The gamble for the Wolves would be hopeful he can keep that same level of play all season.
Whenever Jimmy Butler is traded, Minnesota will be lacking depth at shooting guard.
Brooklyn will have to make a decision on if they want to re-sign point guard D’Angelo Russell this season or let him walk in free agency. Having Jeff Teague would help the Nets front desk to make an easier decision. The Nets are in desperate need for veteran leadership and Teague would be the perfect player for their roster.
Gorgui Dieng is going to give Brooklyn much-needed help in the middle. Jarrett Allen is coming into his own but he needs additional help in the interior if the Nets want to be successful. Dieng would be an upgrade from Faried, as Faried has dealt with many injuries in his career.
The Nets have been the worst team in the NBA for a long time but this trade could make them more respectable in the East. With the Wolves getting rid of these terrible contracts and by getting a young scorer in LeVert, it would be perfect for both teams.
The final trade will look at is my personal favorite as we are trading Jeff Teague and Gorgui Dieng to the Sacramento Kings.
