This trade is unquestionably the best trade for the Timberwolves, tough move for Sacramento.

Many of us at Dunking with Wolves feel that KAT is playing out of position and he should be playing at the power forward spot (or at least, if Thibs continues to play him poorly). Teaming Cauley-Stein back with Towns would be a scary duo and let Towns take some off on defense.

Willie Cauley-Stein is playing some the best ball of his career right now, so it would probably take a little more than what we are offering but it would be worth it. The twin towers for Spurs worked out just fine back in the day, however the NBA is changing to small-ball lineups but the flexibility would still help.

Former college teammates in Kentucky, Towns and Cauley-Stein know each other very well. Their chemistry from college could transfer over and we would finally have KAT playing his natural position.

Cauley-Stein is knowing for his elite rebounding and defense which is a perfect fit next to Towns. He has shown true leadership with his teammates since the Kings traded Cousins last season. Cauley-Stein is in the last year of his contract so this would be a big gamble for Minnesota but the connection between Towns and Cauley-Stein would hopefully make it easy for him to resign at a good number.

Wolves would have plenty of cap space to sign Willie to a big contract if everything worked out.

Bogdan Bogdanovic is still working back from surgery and reports say that it could be as early as the first week of November. Bogdan can play both the shooting guard and small forward spot, which would be a great replacement for Jimmy Butler. His mid range and three point game are going to be key to making the Timberwolves an all-around type team.

The three trades we went through are all really based on one thing, and that’s Jimmy Butler.

dark. Next. Waiting to trade Butler is the right move

Once Minnesota trades Butler, we will really get a chance to see what direction the team is going. Until then, make sure to keep checking back here on Dunking with Wolves and make sure to follow us on Twitter for updates on this wild ‘not drama.’
