Jimmy Butler traded to the Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers have been referenced by Woj of ESPN as one of the potential teams that could make a deal for Jimmy Butler sooner rather than later, and we agree.

The 76ers are sitting at a record of 5-4, close to being kicked out of the top-eight in the East thus far this season. While that’s not a great start, they have some housekeeping to do with some of their roster trying to get their groove going – like Markelle Fultz or Dario Saric.

For that reason, even with their poor play, I can’t see the 76ers moving Fultz or Saric for anyone (mostly because their great contracts).

In this deal I have the Sixers sending the Wolves Robert Covington, Mike Muscala, and a few picks for Butler’s talents. This deal is one of the more realistic moves I’ve made in this piece; while most fans see Covington as an ‘okay’ player, him and a couple nice assets is a solid move for Minny.

I can see Tom Thibodeau pulling the trigger if he hears a few names in deals. For example, Josh Richardson (we’re not SURE that his name’s been offered), Khris Middleton, Eric Gordon, PJ Tucker, or possibly Robert Covington.

What’s attractive about Covington is his knock down shot and his solid perimeter defense. And if your Philly, it’s time to sell high on Covington, who’s having his best numbers of his career (as he does a lot during the first ten games of the season throughout his career).

Covington is averaging close to 14 PPG, with shooting splits of 44.4/44.8/70.6, and it’s rare you see a player shoot better from downtown than anywhere else on the court with Covington’s two-point shot percentage sitting at 42 percent.

Mike Muscala was added to the deal as a filler, as he has $5 million left on a one-year deal.

Moreover, the draft picks can be edited, but it’s most likely a first and soon-ish second, or two late firsts.
