Jimmy Butler traded to the Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors would acquire Jimmy Butler in this potential move that would send Serge Ibaka, C.J. Miles, and an unprotected first to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Raptors are first in the Eastern Conference standings and second in the NBA behind the Golden State Warriors sitting at a record of 8-1. This comes after making a questionable decision this offseason in trading their former All-Star DeMar DeRozan for All-Star Kawhi Leonard.

The decision ended up being a secure one as we’ve watched Kawhi Leonard return close-to his MVP-self.

While I’m not personally sold on the fit for Toronto, if they truly want to make a deal to push them over the top in the East, this would do that.

The Raptors have a top-five bench in the league, possibly even the best one, and acquiring Butler without messing their rotation up in a huge way is a must-deal for them.

The Timberwolves would get Serge Ibaka who is thriving this season, looking fairly close to his 2014-self. Ibaka is currently shooting 52.4 percent from the field and averaging 16.6 PPG in only 28 minutes of action per game. At the age of 29-years-old, Ibaka has a lot left in his tank and would be a nice addition next to Towns or off the bench for the Wolves.

C.J. Miles hasn’t found his groove in a Raptors jersey and is one of the league’s best perimeter threats, he’s obviously a great sharp-shooter to bring off the bench next to Anthony Tolliver that could spread the floor very nicely with Tyus Jones finding them at the arc.

What Minnesota wants more than anything is to become more well-rounded at to give Karl-Anthony Towns the ball as much as possible and this does that.
