Jimmy Butler traded to the Dallas Mavericks

While the Dallas Mavericks are one of the worst teams in the league in terms of standings, they aren’t far off.

The Mavericks future is looking up since drafting Dennis Smith Jr., signing DeAndre Jordan, and drafting Luka Doncic. But, they still seem like one piece away since Harrison Barnes hasn’t quite panned out like the All-Star they were hoping for.

The Mavs luckily have enough assets to create a deal favorable for Minnesota to send 4-time All-Star Jimmy Butler their way. The Mavericks lineup could potentially look like Dennis Smith, Jimmy Butler, Harrison Barnes, Luka Doncic, and DeAndre Jordan.

Much like our past slides with the Bucks roster or even the Denver roster, this deal may be one of my favorites for the recipients of Butler.

The Wolves get back a solid shooter and defensive threat out of Wesley Matthews, which is essentially all they need at the guard position as a filler for Butler’s absence. They would also get Dwight Powell to come off the bench as their back up big man, who is a nice solid player at his age.

The Mavs would also add a potential unprotected first and prospect in guard Jalen Brunson (essentially getting two draft picks).

Not a huge fan in the return for Minnesota, but if there are truly only a few teams calling Thibs, if I’m the Mavs I offer this deal and more, ASAP.
