Minnesota Timberwolves: Jimmy Butler trades to all 30 NBA teams
By Trey Flynn
Jimmy Butler traded to the Indiana Pacers
The Indiana Pacers are 6-3 and are looking to surprise the NBA this year and top out the Eastern Conference.
What’s a better way to do this than adding an all-around threat that is very similar to Victor Oladipo where you essentially just have to worry about the Raptors and Celtics.
Butler, Oladipo, and (newly extended) Myles Turner would be a great trio for years to come in the Eastern Conference, and frankly Indiana deserves it after all those potential championships given up due to LeBron’s dominance in Miami.
And while Oladipo didn’t work next to an All-Star in Oklahoma City with Russell Westbrook, let’s assume that was more of a Westbrook thing than an Oladipo thing.
The Wolves get a few different assets here, with one of my personal favorite underrated players around the league in Domantas Sabonis who is averaging 13.8 PPG with shooting splits of 67.7 percent from the field and 80 percent from the charity stripe. Sabonis would be a perfect addition to the Minnesota bench who could really be a spark-plug for their second unit.
Moreover, the addition of Bojan Bogdanovic and Cory Joseph would be nice assets off the bench, or if nothing else they would be nice future assets to trade in the near future. The addition of Joseph could allow a move like Gorgui Dieng (contract) and Tyus Jones to Phoenix to free cap.
Lastly, much like all of our deals, an unprotected 2019 first tops the deal off for Minny.
I would do this move over most of our trades thus far, mostly because I believe the Wolves should send Butler to the East, for safe measure.
