After couple of new jersey reveals already this season, the Minnesota Timberwolves have yet another surprise design on the way.
Don’t forget, Wolves fans: the 16 playoff teams from last season are each to reportedly debut their ‘earned edition’ jerseys on or around Christmas, which means that the Minnesota Timberwolves will have a new design to debut on Dec. 26.
Thus far, the Timberwolves have killed it with their on-court offerings this year, and it’s exciting to see what they might have in store for jersey No. 6.
Things weren’t always looking so good for Nike when they took over the league’s jersey manufacturing last season, with jerseys ripping left, right and center raising a big question mark on the durability of the designs. That said, I can’t remember seeing an incident of jerseys ripping this season, and some of the designs have been phenomenal (see: Timberwolves’ City edition and Prince-inspired “Purple Rain” jerseys).
It looks as though the Wolves design will span all aspects from warm-up jerseys to hats and towels, as despite the purple ‘City’ edition accessories being listed for the game on the 26th, the game dated the 28th lists ‘coming soon’ for all areas except the court.
It also appears we’ll be treated to six appearances of the Earned edition design throughout the remainder of the season. Just what it looks like remains to be seen, of course, although the Wolves haven’t had a gray jersey yet this year and the only black version is the Classic edition throwback.
It seems Wolves’ fans won’t have to wait long to find out, however, with a league-wide reveal apparently slated for sometime in the coming days.
For what it’s worth, a few Twitter users whose credibility remains to be seen have strong opinions that the Earned edition jerseys are quite simply recolors of an existing City or Statement edition jersey, although that was more or less already the case regarding the Wolves’ Northern Lights-inspired Statement jerseys.
Supposed leaks of other team’s Earned jerseys seem to lend some credibility to this rumor, but it sure sounds as though we’ll find out for certain in the coming days.
Here’s hoping the Timberwolves continue their trend of great jersey designs and that we’ll have something nice to see on the court as a late Christmas present.
