Minnesota Timberwolves: 3 Jeff Teague trades to jump-start the Wolves
By Trey Flynn
The Minnesota Timberwolves trade a proven-facilitator in Jeff Teague to the Orlando Magic for sixth-man Terrence Ross.
The Orlando Magic’s Terrence Ross is quietly having the best season of his career, and I think it’s time for Minnesota to buy Ross at any cost.
The 27-year-old high flying wing is playing 25.7 MPG while averaging 14.4 PPG with shooting splits of 45.9/39.9/85.0.
The potential to add Ross as a sixth man would undoubtedly save Minnesota from drowning as a bottom-ten team in the league this season with Jeff Teague dribbling the clock out for the remainder of the regular season.
The Magic desperately need a solid point man to run this offense who can help the likes of Evan Fournier, Nikola Vucevic, and Aaron Gordon if they truly want to make a run at the playoffs – which is definitely in the realm of possibility this season.
Jeff Teague can make a solid starting five for the Magic for the next few years, and if we’re honest with ourselves, the Magic aren’t bringing in any favorable assets over the next few offseasons. And with the Eastern conference being wide-open with LeBron James gone, why not do this?
Taj Gibson is also exchanged for the young big man Khem Birch, which also provides Minnesota with tax relief and a solid big man that can replace Gorgui Dieng (if ever traded).
This is most likely the most realistic move that helps both teams because Terrence Ross provides scoring off the bench and Jeff Teague allows the Magic to become playoff contenders.
In conclusion, Jeff Teague is a good player and has a lot left in his tank, but the Wolves’ need to move on and utilize guards Rose and Jones’ more. And to do that, Teague has to go and hopefully the wolves can get a solid return back to help their playoff push and stop this losing streak.
