So, What’s Next?

The Road Ahead

The Timberwolves currently sit in 11th place in the Western Conference and are two games out of the 8th and final playoff spot. Of the 34 remaining games, 19 are against teams that currently have a winning record and 17 games are away from Minnesota.

In other words, it won’t be an easy hill to climb, albeit not impossible.

Assuming the Wolves have a quiet trade deadline, the buyout market is where the team will have to look to bolster its roster for postseason opportunities. Overall, it seems as though the team will mostly rely on getting healthy and hope that coaching changes have the impact needed to make a late-season frenzy similar to the one the Utah Jazz enjoyed last year.

Timberwolves fans should optimistically look forward to plenty of things to enjoy over the last few months of the season. It will be interesting to see how Coach Saunders adjusts lineups, rotations and minutes going forward.

Questions That Need Answers

Can Karl Anthony-Towns continue his rise into the upper-echelon of NBA stardom? Will Tyus Jones play himself into the starting point guard position not only for this season, but for seasons to come? Does Josh Okogie prove to be a reliable starting caliber guard? Is Ryan Saunders interim tag removed and become the team’s long-term head coach?

There are plenty of worthwhile storylines to follow over the second half of the season in Minnesota.

Timberwolves fans can hold out hope for back-to-back playoff appearances, but should remain confident in the team’s future should that goal end up out of reach.
