We’re within 48 hours of the trade deadline. Will the Minnesota Timberwolves be active or choose to stand pat this season?

The NBA Trade Deadline is right around the corner. This Thursday, Feb. 7, at 2 p.m. Central Time, the league could look drastically different. Or, not much could go down.

At any rate, the rumor mill is turning. Regarding the Minnesota Timberwolves, Jon Krawzczynski of The Athletic that “several” teams have checked in with the Wolves regarding Andrew Wiggins. In turn, the Wolves’ front office has no intention to move Wiggins and his max contract as they still feel as though he is a key part of the team’s future success.

The Timberwolves seem fully committed to Wiggins and look for him to be part of the team for the foreseeable future. Interim head coach Ryan Saunders has the tough task of trying to keep his job as well as make moves to make a push for the playoffs.

The Timberwolves are yet in a full sell mode but recent reports indicate they just might be heading that way with other players, including Dario Saric. Here’s a report from Sean Deveney of Sporting News:

"“Saric could find himself on the trade block by Thursday. The Wolves likely would prefer to wait until the offseason to make a trade involving what was supposed to be the most valuable piece they got in return for [Jimmy] Butler, but according to one league executive, ‘He could be had for a decent offer, a first-rounder and a player.'”"

It would be an interesting decision to decide to move on from Saric after not even three months worth of games in Minnesota, but Deveney apparently thinks there is a real possibility of that happening.

Saric is a legitimate stretch-four with the ability to pass and play in the post, and he’s still on his rookie contract. If the Wolves are truly considering shopping the third-year big man, expect plenty of teams to be interested in swinging a deal.

Outside of Wiggins and Saric, there doesn’t appear to be anything else brewing in Wolves land for the time being, but that obviously can change in a hurry.

dark. Next. Could the Wolves swing a deal with the Knicks?

Trade rumors will continue to be a hot topic for the next 48 hours or so, and we will make sure to keep you updated on all Timberwolves news and rumors. In the meantime, enjoy Wolves-Grizzlies on Tuesday night.
