Keldon Johnson – Kentucky, SG
The Kentucky Wildcats have their eyes set on yet another Final Four, though this year’s team is not nearly as talented as the Kentucky teams that viewers have become accustomed to. Coach Calipari will need to prepare his team for a second round matchup against either a Seton Hall team that already beat Kentucky earlier this season or an impressive 29-4 Wofford team.
Kentucky will turn to their talented freshman, Keldon Johnson, in the hopes that a hot shooting stretch from him can spark a deep run in the tournament.
Keldon Johnson has had an up-and-down season for Kentucky. He is a high-motor player with a smooth jump-shot that will be of interest to NBA scouts. Johnson has averaged 13.4 points per game while shooting over 38 percent from beyond the arc this season. Many people will have their eye on the freshman guard to see if he is able to take over games in March for the Wildcats.
The Timberwolves desperately need 3-point shooters and Keldon Johnson fits the bill. He is currently projected to go inside the top 10 thanks to his shooting and high motor but his draft position could change greatly based on his performance in the NCAA tournament.
Minnesota has already had success drafting from Coach Calipari’s system so look for Johnson to be on the Timberwolves’ radar — and especially if his 3-point shot remains true in March.
