4. A Proper Farewell

No matter how you feel about the TimberBulls, Taj Gibson has a been a breathe of fresh air.

Gibson has done everything asked of him since signing with the team in 2017 and should be recognized for the leader that he has been. The outstanding veteran has been a crucial part of the starting lineup for the majority of his two seasons and has managed to stay healthy, a rare occurrence within the Timberwolves’ organization.

Gibson was willing to speak to the media during the Jimmy Butler fiasco and be real with the fanbase. He also never complained after head coach Ryan Saunders told him that Dario Saric would be starting in his place for the majority of the season. Most importantly, Timberwolves’ players have spoken highly of Taj Gibson‘s leadership skills both on and off the court.

On April 9th, the Wolves’ final home game of the season against Toronto, let’s hope that Target Center gives Taj Gibson the standing ovation that he deserves. Gibson hits free agency this summer and I hope that all of Wolves’ nation can appreciate his tenure here if this is indeed his last season in Minnesota. The Timberwolves will be struggling to find cap space this summer and unfortunately, it would not surprise me if Gibson receives an offer from a contender that the Timberwolves would be unable to match.

Whether or not he leaves the team this summer, Taj Gibson should be remembered as a vital part of Timberwolves’ history. He has been a true professional and deserves to be recognized as one of the most important players to ever play for this franchise.
