5. The Rematch of Game 82

Game 82. Overtime. A playoff berth on the line. Last year’s finale against Denver was one of the greatest moments in franchise history.

It was a true play-in game with the winner guaranteed of a playoff spot while the loser was eliminated. The Timberwolves and Nuggets kept it close most of the night, with Denver having a great chance to win the game in the final seconds. This led to Taj Gibson’s most memorable play as a Wolf: stealing the ball from Jokic in the final seconds of regulation.

The Timberwolves managed to pull away in the overtime period, sealing the victory with two clutch free throws by Andrew Wiggins. The Timberwolves had finally overcome the playoff drought that had plagued the franchise for over a decade.

While the playoffs are not in reach this season, the team and the fanbase can still treat the rematch of Game 82 with pride and end the season on a truly epic note. Minnesota has an opportunity to prove to themselves and the league that they still have a bright future. A win over Denver would to finish the season would also help spread positive vibes throughout the organization concerning the future of interim head coach Ryan Saunders.

Next. Andrew Wiggins is nobody's scapegoat. dark

I want to see the Timberwolves’ rock the Pepsi Center and treat the final game of the year as if it had the same meaning as last season. One last chance to play for pride and foil the playoff seeding of our division rivals. A signature victory over Denver is the perfect way to enter an important offseason with hope and dignity.
