Minnesota Timberwolves 7 most heartbreaking moments of the year
7. Low attendance at Target Center
The Target Center recently completed a major renovation to update facilities and improve fan experience during Timberwolves games, Lynx games, and many other events held throughout the year. According to Inside Arenas, Target Center now has a capacity of 20,500 after the renovation.
The problem that the Timberwolves are running into this year is the lack of attendance during their games. According to ESPN’s Attendance Report, the Timberwolves rank dead last in the NBA for average attendance.
On average, 14,747 fans have come through the doors of the Target Center for Wolves’ home games this season. That number is down from last year where the Wolves ranked 28th in attendance with 15,305 fans per game.
Unfortunately, the Wolves have not been providing wins for home fans this season. With a 4-11 home record, it is hard to be excited about visiting Target Center this season.
The lower attendance has a negative impact on the Timberwolves’ home court advantage, which may play a factor in the teams’ struggles when playing in Minneapolis.
It is heartbreaking to see the lack of interest in a Wolves team that is poised to have a bright future ahead of them with the newly-implemented front office and coaching staff. Within a few years, Target Center will be packed nightly with thousands of fans screaming to see their Minnesota Timberwolves.
