1. Josh Okogie, Wing

2019-20: $2.5M

2020-21: $2.6M

2021-22: $4.1M

Josh Okogie is the definition of perimeter defense. He is the Timberwolves’ best defender by quite a bit. Averaging nine points, four rebounds, two assists, as well as a steal per game, Okogie is a solid starting-caliber wing.

While Okogie may never be a star, the upside is there to be a very high-level contributor for a playoff team. If he can improve upon his shot and get his 3P% up to at least 30%, he could become one of the better two-way wings in the NBA, along with a really big value — especially given he was not selected in the 2018 NBA Draft until the late teens.

Okogie is an all-around impact player that, while only on a rookie deal, has proven to have a huge impact on the team when on the floor. He is often asked to guard the toughest assignment every night — with a great deal of success in doing so.

He is, by far, on the most team-friendly contract for the Timberwolves currently.

Hitting on draft picks is a huge part of landing these great contracts, but as seen with Layman, there are other ways to do so as well. Gersson Rosas has proven to be very smart when it comes to player movement, and he should be trusted to do his job.
