Myles Turner could be the Minnesota Timberwolves’ third star
The Trade Offer
The Minnesota Timberwolves may be able to get away with not paying a premium for Myles Turner, just like they did with acquiring D’Angelo Russell. While they do not have a first-round pick in 2021, Minnesota should still have the assets to make a deal happen.
The Timberwolves acquire a defense-first big that can guard virtually any forward/big in the NBA for two first-round picks and two young players.
While the Wolves could obtain a 3-and-D wing with that 16th overall selection (think Aaron Nesmith or Saddiq Bey), Turner is a player you know will have an impact on your team for years to come. While he isn’t a flashy third star, he tremendously increases your odds at an NBA Championship and will almost certainly make Minnesota a contender.
Turner is a player that fits on almost any NBA team and a matter of circumstance could bring him to the Timberwolves. Everything about his fit, contract, and overall value would be positive for the Wolves.
After the Timberwolves get their third star, the process becomes building around those players in the best way possible.
