Minnesota Timberwolves: Top 3 Wolves moments of the 2019-20 season

1. Timberwolves beat full strength Clippers 142-115

Coming into this game, the Timberwolves had lost 13 games in a row.

However, this wasn’t the same team. The first game for this new-look roster post-trade-deadline came against one of the best teams in the NBA.

While Russell was inactive with a right thigh contusion, the fans were able to get a look at some of the new acquisitions, and they did not disappoint. Beasley, who finally had the chance to play starter’ss minutes, had one of the best games of his career.

From the start, the Timberwolves had the lead and never turned back. The Wolves had been a top-three team in volume 3-point shooting team all season but were consistently at the bottom of the list when it came to 3-point field goal percentage. This was not one of those nights; they were 26-of-44 from deep, or 59.1 percent. Ten players made a shot from deep, while Beasley had seven all by himself and led the way to a franchise-record 26 threes in a game.

Even without Russell, you could tell how special this team could become with time. Oh, and don’t forget that McLaughlin blew by Kawhi Leonard twice, throwing home two dunks on his way to a line of 24 points, 11 assists, and four rebounds.

In every aspect, this was the Minnesota Timberwolves’ most complete game in a long time. It gave light for a future that is more hopeful than the path they were headed before the trade deadline on Feb. 6.

This may not be a season to remember for many reasons, but the Timberwolves’ future is bright, and it’s brighter then it has been in a long time.
