Guard. 10. player. Pick Analysis. Kentucky. Tyrese Maxey. 66. Scouting Report

The Phoenix Suns signed Ricky Rubio this past season, and while he was excellent for the Suns, they also need a long-term option. After selecting Cam Johnson and Mikal Bridges each of the past two years, the Suns are in a position to select a guard with their first-round pick this year. Tyrese Maxey is a two-way player that could make an impact on day one.

Maxey, a 6-foot-3 combo guard from Kentucky, was projected as a top-5 selection entering the season. After struggling from the three-point line during his lone year at Kentucky, Maxey still maintained lottery stock due to his incredible defensive effort alongside his complimentary offensive skill set.

Maxey would be an excellent fit next to Devin Booker. While he may not be of the same caliber of playmaker Rubio is, Maxey absolutely is a good decision-maker. The Suns need an all-around guard to add to their backcourt, whether it be as a starter or sixth-man, and Tyrese Maxey is one of the best fits for them in that respect.
