Dunking With Wolves Staff Picks: NBA Awards Roundtable
Sixth Man of the Year
DJ: Lou Williams, Los Angeles Clippers
Lou Williams maintained his excellent scoring numbers as well as improving upon his assist totals as well, even with the additions of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. He has not gotten as much recognition this year, but is still just as good as he has been in the past.
PF: Montrezl Harrell, Los Angeles Clippers
You could make a case for Harrell’s Clippers teammate Lou Williams to win for a fourth time, but Harrell has been the heart and soul of one of the best second units in the league.
PL: Coby White, Chicago Bulls
Coby White has been a reliable player coming off the bench in his first season in the NBA. He can score efficiently and has shown that he is a key piece for this franchise moving forward. He has been a beacon of hope for a team that struggled last season.
TW: Montrezl Harrell, Los Angeles Clippers
Harrell’s role increased this year despite playing for a much more talented Clippers team. 18.6 points per game on 58 percent shooting… he got to the line, rebounded well, and played solid defense off the bench.
NA: Lou Williams, Los Angeles Clippers
Williams ranks second among bench players in scoring, but he leads all bench players in assists, which is something he doesn’t get nearly enough credit for. Williams’ assist number edges him in front of Dennis Schroeder for me. Williams has been a staple for a league-best Clippers bench, which also includes another 6MOTY candidate in Montrezl Harrell.
ZL: Montrezl Harrell, Los Angeles Clippers
Dennis Schroder and Lou Williams are deserving candidates for this year’s award but I have to give it to Williams’ teammate, Montrezl Harrell. Harrell has raised his game to a new level in 2020 and made himself essential to LA when it counts in late-game situations.
AJ: Montrezl Harrell, Los Angeles Clippers
Let’s forget about his teammate Lou Williams for a moment and take a look at this man. He is a non shooting big man who comes off the bench and averages almost 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 block. Those are starting caliber numbers from a player that gets 27 minutes a game and gives you energy and heart every play. A winner in my book.
Final Tally:
Montrezl Harrell (4), Lou Williams (2), Cony White (1)
