Fit on the Timberwolves

Currently, in terms of backcourt players expected to be back on the Timberwolves for future seasons, Minnesota has D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, and Jarrett Culver. Adding LaMelo Ball would give this group of players a certified passer with enough length and potential to hopefully become a two-way player.

Ball would fit really well in the starting lineup alongside D’Angelo Russell. He would allow Russell to take on more of the scoring duty, taking away a lot of his playmaking role. Ball would be an excellent pick-and-roll fit with Karl-Anthony Towns, as well. Essentially almost any player is going to benefit offensively as a result of playing next to LaMelo Ball.

Malik Beasley would, once again, be relegated to a bench role, although this time it would be as the sixth man (rather than being hidden on the deep bench in Denver). Finding versatile forwards that could hide some of Ball’s defensive woes would have to be a priority, especially in his early career (at least until he puts on muscle). Josh Okogie could play next to Ball, although his lack of shooting could really hurt the overall offense. Jarrett Culver’s complimentary skill set would be very useful as well, should he be able to get better defensively.
