The Minnesota Timberwolves restructured their group of guards at the trade deadline. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done.

The Minnesota Timberwolves acquired both D’Angelo Russell and Malik Beasley mid-season. Undrafted rookie Jordan McLaughlin has also been a nice surprise. That said, the Timberwolves have to improve upon what they have at both the point guard and shooting guard positions.

As of right now, Minnesota’s roster as a whole is a shell of what it could be. There are certain pieces in place that could be franchise cornerstones: Karl-Anthony Towns, Jarrett Culver, along with the aforementioned Russell and Beasley. But the team needs to solidify their positional rotations.

Russell and Beasley, the two long-term guards currently on the roster, both are incredible at scoring. The two combined to average 42.4 points per game (Russell with 21.7 PPG and Beasley with 20.7 PPG) during their short stint with the Timberwolves before the season prematurely ended.
