The Locks

Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers are going to make the playoffs next season. Any team headed by both LeBron James and Anthony Davis is a lock for the playoffs, and while Davis is a pending free agent, it is very unlikely he leaves for another team.

The one question surrounding the Lakers next season is going to be the surrounding cast. Danny Green is aging and key contributors such as Dwight Howard, Markieff Morris, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope are pending free agents.

Los Angeles Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers have just as much depth as they do star talent. With Kawhi Leonard and Paul George both presumably returning following this season (so long as they aren’t traded), the Clippers should easily qualify for the playoffs next season.

Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams, Ivica Zubac, and Landry Shamet all are returning next season, and it is assumed Marcus Morris and Montrezl Harrell are going to be on the roster next season too. There is no reason to believe the Clippers will not be a quality contender.

Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets have an incredible amount of talent. Nikola Jokic is a top-10 player in the NBA and his surrounding cast is spectacular. Jamal Murray needs to improve his consistency and the Nuggets could use a second option, but Gary Harris, Will Barton, Jerami Grant, Michael Porter, and Bol Bol are all excellent role players.

The Nuggets are likely going to hold onto a top-3 seed in the Western Conference this season and were a top-2 seed last year for the playoffs. They should be treated as an elite-level team.
