Other Likely Playoff Teams

Locks: Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets

Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks are only going to get better with their young nucleus of Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. Seth Curry, Maxi Kleber, and Tim Hardaway are all good surrounding pieces, and the Mavericks as a team posted the league’s best offense.

The Mavericks could have a decent amount of salary cap space this offseason, depending on what Hardaway and Willie Cauley-Stein do with their player options this offseason.

Portland Trail Blazers

The Trail Blazers are currently not in the playoff picture. That said, they have not had All-Star caliber center Jusuf Nurkic for the majority of their season. He anchors their defense and without him, the Trail Blazers have lacked the rim protection needed to truly contend in the Western Conference.

The Blazers have Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum locked-up long-term, and Nurkic is under contract for two more seasons after 2020. While Carmelo Anthony may not return after this season, the Trail Blazers also may have enough salary cap space to bring in additional floor spacers.

Utah Jazz

The Utah Jazz have an impressive roster. Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert are both elite-level talents for their respective positions. Joe Ingles and Bojan Bogdanovic are also very solid, although the Jazz have very little overall depth outside of their starting lineup.

Mike Conley has been a disappointment, but the Jazz overall have the talent to be a near-lock for the playoffs next season.
