13. player. Pick Analysis. Tyrese Maxey. Kentucky. 69. Scouting Report. Shooting Guard

Tyrese Maxey is a great two-way guard that has fallen way too far down draft boards. While most see him going after the lottery now, it is difficult to see David Griffin passing on a talent like Maxey.

The Pelicans adding Maxey to a somewhat shaky backcourt rotation would solidify their future, especially given they already have Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Lonzo Ball. Maxey is a great passer, solid shooter, and high-level defender.

Maxey is a high-floor, high-ceiling player. Even if he isn’t scoring, he will be able to help any team at a high level, and that is a really valuable asset. Maxey should be a lottery pick, and any team passing on him at this stage in the draft would undeniably be a mistake.
