The Charlotte Hornets need talent. Miles Bridges has been underperforming expectations and pales in comparisons to what they passed on/traded away in order to select him (Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Michael Porter, Troy Brown).

Devin Vassell is a consistent wing prospect that should be able to make an impact on both ends of the floor almost immediately. Vassell has the athleticism and upside to become a really good starter during the peak of his career, but also have a 3-and-D role as a rookie. Alongside both Devonte’ Graham and PJ Washington, that skill set could be very valuable, especially to a Charlotte team that has very little wing/forward depth.

The Hornets have passed on so much talent over the past three years (Donovan Mitchell, Bam Adebayo in 2018, the aforementioned Gilgeous-Alexander, Porter, and Brown in 2019), but things are finally starting to look up. The team still should be plenty bad in 2020-21, but their future is looking brighter since Kemba Walker left for Boston.
