Khris Middleton is not a name that has been floated in trade rumors much before, but one name that has recently been buzzing is Giannis Antentokounmpo, who many league executives believe may consider a move this offseason after the Bucks’ defeat at the hands of the Miami Heat.
If Giannis were to leave Milwaukee, is it plausible that Middleton might seek a move as well? If so, a trade between the Wolves and Bucks that include the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft is intriguing.
Again, a trade like this could only happen in Giannis decides to leave Milwaukee, as the Bucks would have little to no incentive to move Middleton. However, if that scenario were to occur, this would be a chance for the Bucks to start a rebuild with the first-overall pick and some nice young wings to build a young core as their existing veterans complete the remainder of their contracts.
Khris Middleton would be a perfect addition to the Wolves lineup. He is a lengthy wing with the ability to score everywhere, averaging 20.1 points this season on 41.5 percent from three. Additionally, Middleton would instantly become one of Minnesota’s best defenders.
Middleton paired with Malik Beasley on the wing would be a nightmare for opposing defenses, as both have the ability to shoot from deep or take their opponents to the basket. The addition of Middleton would likely force the Timberwolves to start a young player at the 4-spot, but Middleton’s offensive and defensive contributions would be worth having inexperience at that spot.
Again, let’s recognize that this scenario is farily unlikely, but the idea of Middleton in a Timberwolves uniform is certainly an intriguing one.
These four lineups certainly vary in likelihood, but it is fascinating to consider how many options the Wolves’ front office could pursue this offseason.
