The Minnesota Timberwolves need acquire more role players this coming offseason.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have a lot that they need to improve this coming offseason. One of the things they need are two-way forwards that can switch onto multiple positions.

One of the main free agents available is going to be Miami Heat forward Jae Crowder, who has been spectacular in the playoffs thus far. Crowder, playing over 30 minutes per game in the playoffs through eleven games, is averaging 14 points, six rebounds, two assists, and one steal per game on splits of 43/40/61.

The Timberwolves need to improve upon their overall rotation should they want to make a playoff push this coming season, and Crowder could be a really good compliment next to Karl-Anthony Towns given his perimeter defensive ability in addition to his well-rounded offensive game.

Crowder is exactly what the Timberwolves need on their current roster – a forward that can both space the floor and generate turnovers on the defensive end. And while his shooting was nonexistent in Memphis this past season, it seems as though Crowder has re-gained his confidence and does enough to contribute on the floor even if his shot is not falling.

The Timberwolves have a decent amount of salary cap space this coming offseason, however a large part of it will presumably go towards re-signing Malik Beasley and James Johnson’s player option. That said, it is possible that Crowder does not get more that the mid-level exception, in which case, Minnesota should absolutely send an offer his way.
