The First Trade

The Minnesota Timberwolves would be receiving a top-6 pick in addition to two 3-and-D players in Kevin Huerter and DeAndre Hunter. Bringing in two switchable defenders that can both consistently hit 3-point shots to play alongside D’Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns would be incredible to watch.

The Hawks making this trade would have to mean that they are sold on the possibility of Trae Young alongside either Anthony Edwards (more likely) or LaMelo Ball. Atlanta drafting either would be putting another dynamic next to their star player, and with John Collins and Clint Capela, could be a playoff-bound team in 2020-21.

The Minnesota Timberwolves could use the 6th pick on someone such as Obi Toppin or Devin Vassell, who are both pro-ready players that fill very different roles. Toppin would be an interesting offensive fit next to Towns while Vassell would be another 3-and-D wing that will almost certainly be able to play playoff minutes as a rookie.
