THE THIRD TRADE

The Minnesota Timberwolves would be taking a huge risk by moving down in the draft to bring in RJ Barrett. That said, his talent is undeniable, and his situation was absolutely impacted by the New York Knicks roster.

For the Timberwolves, they would essentially be upgrading from Culver to Barrett at the price of dropping to the eighth overall pick. Again, Barrett is extremely talented. Despite averaging only 14 points per game on somewhat disappointing splits, a lot of his struggle can be attributed to the Knicks having Elfrid Payton, Taj Gibson, Mitchell Robinson, and Kevin Knox around him – all of which are notoriously poor shooters.

The Knicks move up in the draft to snag LaMelo Ball, who it has been rumored to have mutual interest in New York.

For the Timberwolves, again, they still have a draft pick in the top-10 that will allow them to select a solid and consistent basketball player. Those expected to go in this range include Isaac Okoro and Onyeka Okongwu. Reggie Bullock, a throw-in, is also a high-level shooter that could be a contributor for the Timberwolves in 2020-21.
