If the Minnesota Timberwolves end up trading Karl-Anthony Towns, they’re going to swing for the fences.

The Minnesota Timberwolves don’t want to trade Karl-Anthony Towns.

But that doesn’t mean that they won’t ultimately pull the trigger on a deal.

This all started with Darren Wolfson’s report that originated from another NBA player, who said that Towns was “as good as gone” from Minnesota.

Yes, Towns is under contract for another four years, and the Wolves obviously want to continue to build around one of the game’s premier offensive talents. But if the rumor has any truth to it whatsoever, the Wolves need to consider their options.

As unlikely as it is that he’s moved anytime soon, with this speculation floating around it’s worth it to look at some potential dream trades the Wolves could make involving Towns.

If a deal is made, the Wolves would certainly consider their options when it comes to “challenge trade”, which is essentially swapping two similar stars for one another. Here are a few deals that Gersson Rosas and the front office could explore.

1. Minnesota Timberwolves and Philadelphia 76ers swap big men

With fairly similar contracts, this trade seems reasonable for both teams.

This would be the very definition of a challenge trade. both are superstars and versatile offensive talents. Embiid gives the Wolves the defense they need, and Towns gives the Sixers the 3-point shooting they need.

While trading Ben Simmons is the most frequently mentioned blockbuster trade that the Sixers could consummate, perhaps they could solve their floor-spacing issue by bringing in the league’s best-shooting big man in Towns.

At first glance, it doesn’t look like either team is going to trade their star centers anytime soon, but as things change this is a trade that both sides could potentially get behind.
