With the season nearing its conclusion, are there any players playing in the NBA Finals that the Minnesota Timberwolves could target this offseason?

It has been 213 days since the Minnesota Timberwolves last appeared in a game, leaving little doubt that fans, players, and front office executives are itching to prepare for the 2020-21 season.

If Gersson Rosas’ statements (subscription required) over the past few months have been any indication of the Timberwolves’ offseason plans, we can expect an aggressive Wolves’ front office during free agency. With the current NBA season ongoing, there is no doubt that Wolves players and executives are imaging ways to improve. And with only two teams remaining in the Finals, front offices around the league are able to get an extended look at the 34 players who still remain.

In the NBA, an overwhelmingly positive aura exists around players who have experienced playing the Finals. Whether it’s the experience of playing under pressure, quality of contributing to a championship contender, or knowledge of what it takes to make it to the top, it is undeniable that executives around the league value championship experience in the players they pursue.

For Rosas and the Timberwolves, it rings especially true as the team attempts to dig out of its rebuild and turn into real contenders in the Western Conference.

Currently, the team’s top players lack playoff and championship experience, with D’Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns each only playing in five playoff games in their careers, securing just two wins between them. With this said, Rosas may consider looking into acquiring players that can bring championship experience into the locker room.

Given the extra spotlight on players currently participating in the Finals, let’s look at some players in the 2020 NBA Finals that the Wolves could target this offseason.
