UNDRAFTED FREE AGENTS

Naz Reid, Kelan Martin, Jordan McLaughlin

The Minnesota Timberwolves have had some luck recently in their undrafted free agents. Typically, it’s difficult for players that teams choose not to invest a draft pick in to even make the roster. However, Jordan McLaughlin and Naz Reid in particular have been pleasant surprises.

While Kelan Martin was decent at times for the Timberwolves, it is difficult to see him remaining on the team long-term, especially following this offseason.

McLaughlin, however, really impressed through his limited playing time in Minnesota. He was a good shooter and passer along with being enough of a defender to warrant playing serious minutes. McLaughlin is a pending free agent and the Timberwolves should seriously look at bringing him back on a second contract.

Naz Reid really came along as the season progressed, as well. He averaged nine points, four rebounds, one assist, as well as one block and one steal per game on decent splits. Reid showed willingness to shoot the ball (and wasn’t bad at it, shooting 33-percent from three), and even started in 11 games. Reid has upside as a quality role player moving forward, and is under contract for multiple seasons.
