There are not many perfect fits in this draft, especially for a team like the Atlanta Hawks. Tyrese Haliburton being available with this selection, though, would be a home run pick for Atlanta on multiple levels.

Starting with the offensive fit, Haliburton is an elite passer that averaged 6.5 assists this past season at Iowa State. Paired with Trae Young’s ability to facilitate, the Hawks could become one of the best passing teams in the Eastern Conference. In addition to this, Haliburton was really efficient in shooting the ball, although there is a slight hitch in his shot.

Defensively, Haliburton is the ideal candidate to have next to a lackluster Trae Young on that end of the floor. He’s lengthy and can take on the tougher assignment night-to-night. Haliburton also would be able to take over the offense completely when Young leaves the floor, something the Hawks struggled with greatly this past season.
