An open letter from Minnesota Timberwolves fans to Karl-Anthony Towns.
Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Karl-Anthony Towns released a video this week detailing the loss of his mother earlier this year due to complications from COVID-19.
This is an open letter from Wolves fans to their superstar big man.
Open Letter To Karl-Anthony Towns: Minnesota Timberwolves fans support you
Dear Karl-Anthony Towns,
Anyone who saw your recent video which detailed the struggles you’ve underwent in the past year couldn’t react any way other than with pure sadness and sympathy.
You detailed unimaginable pain, including a devastating injury that derailed an otherwise outstanding season, losing a loved one, and the grieving process all amidst these unruly times we live in.
Timberwolves fans around the globe want you to know that we have your back.
What does this mean? It means we are rooting for you now more than ever.
Whenever you feel you are ready to step back onto the basketball court again, we will be there to cheer you on. We fully expect that you’ll return to the court with nothing but sheer passion for the game of basketball, and to play in a way that will honor your mother. As Wolves fans, we not only know that you will overcome hard times, but we are extremely excited to watch you do it.
Having your back also means that we will not accept any ‘soft’ slander when it comes to your name.
A person who has to deal with the loss of their mother before the age of 25 is anything but soft. A person who is a source of support to his family members during a time of unimaginable grieving is anything soft. It takes a true leader and person to be able to open and honest about how he is feeling and how he is struggling.
It takes a true leader to be able to be there for others when they themselves are having a hard time. Simple as that.
You should also know that Wolves fans are and will continue to be understanding of your situation. Not ready to return to basketball? That’s okay, take some time off. Having a rough day emotionally and need some time off? That’s okay, go be with your family. You should feel no obligation to us as you navigate this extremely difficult time in your life. We understand. We just want the best for you.
We sincerely wish you the best, and we cannot wait to watch you ascend. Life has a way of getting the best out of people that overcome hard times. In the meantime, know that Wolves fans have unwavering support for you. We wish you nothing but the best.
On behalf of true Wolves fans,
Nate Ackert
