Timberwolves rumors have been flying everywhere as only one week remains before the long-anticipated 2020 NBA Draft.

In addition to the plethora of Timberwolves rumors coming out over the past few days (and weeks), Kevin O’Connor reported today that Minnesota is one of the teams attempting to move up for an additional lottery pick.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are currently projected to select Illawarra Hawks guard LaMelo Ball with the first overall pick. Adding another player from the top of this draft would be interesting given how some of the guys in the 4-8 range would fit on the roster.

The Hawks willing to move down is pretty big news, it’s uncertain what exactly the price would be to move up. Jarrett Culver in addition to the 17th pick for something that high would be favorable towards Minnesota, but it seems as though Atlanta is also engaged in talks with the Pelicans, particularly over franchise guard Jrue Holiday – a caliber of player that the Wovles cannot match in trade talks.

O’Connor mentioned that the Timberwolves are high on Iowa State guard Tyrese Haliburton. It has also been previously reported that Minnesota is in on Dayton forward/big Obi Toppin. Another player that has been gaining steam in that range is FSU forward Patrick Williams, who has been a popular pick for the Timberwolves in mock drafts at the 17th selection.

Regardless of what the Timberwolves decide to do, the fact that they are engaging in trade talks about moving up in the draft is really interesting, particularly after the sheer amount of rumors about possibly moving down from the first pick.

There will likely be much more information, rumors, and trades that occur over the coming week. The Minnesota Timberwolves are going to be at the center of it all, or at least until it is leaked which direction they decide to go for the first overall pick (usually it is at least leaked a few hours before the draft begins).
