Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Wing. Anthony Edwards. 86. Georgia. 1. player

The Minnesota Timberwolves are an interesting team this draft cycle. They have the most draft capital (numbers 1, 17, and 33), as well as some salary cap flexibility. Projecting this pick is really difficult as there are conflicting rumors as to who the Wolves are leaning towards of Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball.

Both ESPN’s Jonathan Givony and Sports Illustrated’s Jeremy Woo came out with intel today that indicates Anthony Edwards will, indeed, be the first overall pick.

"“The Wolves have done their best to send mixed signals to market the pick and have explored a range of trade possibilities, and a deal would probably be their preference in the end. But for the most part, the educated assumptions I’ve heard from executives and front-office personnel have not wavered much. There’s beenminimal belief that Minnesota will opt for LaMelo Ball over Edwards.” — Jeremy Woo"

Edwards would be an interesting selection. The Timberwolves already have a point guard and center, somewhat mitigating the need for either Wiseman or Ball. However, most outlets do have Ball as their first overall player. But in a draft that has been labeled considerably weaker than most, selecting the best fit in Edwards might not cause much harm – if at all any.

Anthony Edwards is a score-first guard/wing that has incredible contact balance. If he is able to improve upon his efficiency as well as become someone that can regularly and consistently affect winning, he will have been the correct pick for Minnesota.
