Forward. 7. player. 64. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Florida State. Patrick Williams

The Detroit Pistons made their first trade early Monday morning when they moved Bruce Brown to the Nets in exchange for a 2021 second round pick and Dzanan Musa. The Pistons are seemingly active in trade talks with other teams, as well, possibly regarding the future of Blake Griffin and Derrick Rose.

That said, it seems as though the worst kept secret in this years’ draft is that the Detroit Pistons are highly interested in (and probably going to select) Patrick Williams.

Williams is really a blank canvas of a forward. He is really athletic, has the frame and strength to compete with anyone on the floor, and showed high level on-ball defense as well as some floor spacing potential. He could end up being one of the best players from this draft class, and exactly what the Pistons need in a selection.

Putting Williams next to Kennard and Doumbouya is a win for the Pistons, although they need to continue to build their roster in an effort to gradually rebuild. If they are able to bring in more assets from a possible Griffin or Rose deal, things would look much, much brighter than they already are.
