27. Pick Analysis. Forward. Israel. 8. Scouting Report. Deni Avdija. player

The New York Knicks need a lot of things in a draft pick. After having the the most notable freefall on lottery night, the Knicks have to hit on their pick in an effort to maximize their current franchise centerpiece: RJ Barrett.

New York has a plethora of different needs, but the most notable is floor spacing. Deni Avdija is not exactly the best shooter, but it does seem as though he will be able to shoot an efficient clip at the NBA level. Getting a good, complementary player is of the essence for the Knicks, especially given what their roster had this past year: Elfrid Payton, Julius Randle, and Taj Gibson.

Leon Rose, as the new head-decision maker in New York, has a lengthy task ahead of him. There has not been much talk about who the Knicks are interested in – something new for the team on that front, but optimism remains about this pick.

Another note, the Knicks should absolutely not trade either RJ Barrett or Mitchell Robinson to move up for a top-3 selection. That would be counterproductive towards what the team needs to do – build up assets to possibly become a long-term contender.
