Wings for the Minnesota Timberwolves to sign in NBA free agency: No. 2

2. Jeff Green

Jeff Green could basically be considered cheaper version of Jones Jr. and would qualify as a veteran presence for a team whose oldest player is only 33 years old and has plenty of young talent.

Green has bounced around a number of teams and filled a number of roles. Last year, he shot 56 percent from the field and 35 percent from 3-point range in a season split between Utah and Houston.

Green could be a reliable vet for the Wolves young core, and he has also been consistent when it comes to shooting percentage.

If the Wolves end up acquiring Green, he would be a bench pice that would fill in at something like 15 minutes per game with the ability to spot-start if needed.

Again, this all depends on what we do on draft day, but if Minnesota does sign Green, he would most likely play behind Juancho Hernangómez at the 4 and play the 3 at times as well.

At the moment, James Johnson is the only well-traveled veteran with playoff experience on the roster, so adding another veteran could really help the young players develop — especially if the No. 1 pick is used on a player like Lamelo Ball or Anthony Edwards and isn’t moved in a deal for an NBA veteran.
