POWER FORWARD – JAKE LAYMAN / FREE AGENT

The Minnesota Timberwolves have a lot of different options at power forward, and none are particularly exciting. The most likely option that exists on the current roster is Jake Layman, who played the majority of his minutes at power forward during the time which he was healthy.

Layman averaged nine points, three rebounds, and one assist per game (averaging roughly 22 minutes per night). He’s a good floor spacer to have next to Towns and fits well with what Saunders likes to do as a coach.

Another options that exist on the current roster include first round draft pick Jaden McDaniels, as well as restricted free agent Juan Hernangomez. Neither of these two players are particularly likely to be in the starting lineup, particularly McDaniels.

Hernangomez would be an interesting player, but is probably best suited being the second or third player off of the bench.

Another alternative would be to sign someone through free agency. While there are not any big names that Minnesota is likely to acquire due to their lack of salary cap flexibility, there are some smaller names, such as JaMychal Green, Bobby Portis, and Jae Crowder that could be potential options.
