The Minnesota Timberwolves have re-signed their most notable pending free agent.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have reportedly re-signed Malik Beasley to a four-year, $60 million contract. The deal is worth $15 million per season. Beasley, who averaged over 20 points, five rebounds, and two assists during his 14 game stint in Minnesota this past season.

The Timberwolves acquired Beasley from the Denver Nuggets in a trade that sent Robert Covington to the Houston Rockets. Minnesota also acquired Juan Hernangomez and the Brooklyn Nets in the same deal.

Beasley’s future with the Timberwolves was in question following being charged for using a rifle to threaten a family that was looking to buy a house in his neighborhood. Still, Gersson Rosas and Wolves’ management seem to be commited to him as apart of the teams core.

After trading for Ricky Rubio and drafting Anthony Edwards with the first overall pick, it will be interesting to see what Beasley’s role with the Timberwolves is moving forward. He was acquired to play in a high-usage role – but might be relegated to being the sixth man after a busy offseason for the backcourt.

Beasley is now under contract through the season of 2023-24 – the only other Wolves player that has a contract running that long is franchise centerpiece Karl-Anthony Towns.

Minnesota has many questions that remain about their current roster, particularly about their power forward position. Still, the Timberwolves have their full mid-level exception to use – but with deals happening slower than usual, it will be interesting to see whether anything happens over the weekend.
