Minnesota Timberwolves: What each 2020 draft night addition brings to the Wolves

Minnesota Timberwolves 2020 NBA Draft Addition: Leandro Bolmaro
Trading up to select Leandro Bolmaro
Leandro Bolmaro was selected with the No. 23 pick in the 2020 draft by the New York Knicks. His rights were obtained via trade by the Minnesota Timberwolves by trading the No. 25 and No. 33 picks to jump in front of Milwaukee (and Denver, who traded for No. 24) and take Bolmaro
Bolmaro has played for both FC Barcelona & FC Bacelona Lassa recently and just signed a three-year deal with FC Barcelona.
2020 Per-Game Stats
- Games Played: 13
- Points: 3.2
- Field goal percentage: 36.2
- 3-point percentage: 27.2
- Rebounds: 1.0
- Assists: 1.8
Short-Term Outlook
It sounds as though Bolmaro will likely be a stash candidate whom we won’t see with the Wolves for another year or two. So, not much here in the short-term, although it’ll be interesting to track his overseas career.
Long-Term Outlook
Leandro plays more of a point foward role for FC Barcelona, and it remains to be seen if that will stay the case in the NBA.
Overall, the hope for Bolmaro is that he could be a rotational bench player who brings some defensive consistency for the Wolves, provided he is able to continue developing. Expectations aren’t set to an unreal status so the 20-year-old can continue developing with no real rush on becoming an immediate contributor.
2021 Expectations
Bolmaro won’t play the 2021 season in the NBA, so the expectation is for him to continue to improve for FC Barcelona. Hopefully, we see a positive progression for the young prospect over the course of the year in Spain as he develops his jumper and becomes stronger.
