ED DAVIS TRADE

The Minnesota Timberwolves needed a high-level defender in the frontcourt, and that is exactly what they traded for in Ed Davis.

The Timberwolves moved Omari Spellman, Jacob Evans, and a future second-round pick to the Knicks in order to acquire Davis, who most recently played for the Utah Jazz, averaging just two points and four rebounds.

Ed Davis is by no means a star, but he is a quality big man that can solidify a team’s rotation. He is not a starter (nor should he be expected to become one), but he is a good rebounder and someone that can raise the floor of a defense. Davis can step inside and defend the paint or guard the perimeter. He is someone that is useful to a team that is going to be fighting for a playoff bid this coming year.

The Timberwolves are giving up two players that did not even receive minutes for a team that knew it was not going anywhere this past season – so tacking on an additional second-round pick to improve the defense of a Minnesota team that desperately needs it is absolutely worth the price.
