Grading the Minnesota Timberwolves’ offseason moves
JUAN HERNANGOMEZ
The Minnesota Timberwolves decided to re-sign Juan Hernangomez to a three-year, $21 million contract. Hernangomez is a shoot-first forward that should be a part of the team’s rotation for the foreseeable future.
Hernangomez really does not offer much outside of floor spacing. Because of that reason, he is a good fit next to Towns, although his defensive ability is lackluster at best. I’m also not sure who, in a market which nobody has any salary cap space, is rushing to pay Hernangomez this dollar value over a long-term deal.
Getting a deal done is good, sure, and Hernangomez should at least be someone that can get rotation minutes. However, it is puzzling when, for the majority of his career, Hernangomez was hardly a player that received minutes on a playoff team. At now-25 years old, it will be interesting to see if he can change that.
