The Minnesota Timberwolves are on the outside of the playoff picture looking in.

The Minnesota Timberwolves made a plethora of moves this offseason in an effort to push for the playoffs. Still, they seem to be towards the bottom of the Western Conference in terms of talent.

Gersson Rosas seems to be maintaining an aggressive mindset in an effort to surround his current stars with better players. That said, it still seems unlikely that Minnesota makes it with just how powerful the Western Conference seems to be (with the Lakers, Clippers, Mavericks, Nuggets, Warriors, and Trail Blazers being solid playoff teams and several others competing for spots as well).

Sustained success seems to be the goal for the Timberwolves – and included here are three trades with very different strategies. Minnesota has had a busy offseason, and some of these trades are not feasible in the immediate future.

Right now, the Timberwolves are seemingly battling the Rockets, Jazz, Pelicans, Grizzlies, Suns, Spurs, and Kings for a bottom playoff spot in the Western Conference, and they need to continue to improve their roster to beat out those teams. Even if they are unable to make the playoffs, they won’t have their first-round draft pick, as it is going to the Golden State Warriors this offseason, so long as it does not fall within the first three picks.
