Defensive Player of the Year

DJ: Bam Adebayo, Miami Heat

Bam Adebayo took a huge leap last year as a big that step away from the basket and guard virtually any player. If he can continue what he did in Orlando’s bubble, he very well could be a contender for this award.

JT: Rudy Gobert, Utah Jazz

Gobert takes back his DPOY this year leading the Jazz back to the playoffs. Losing his 3-peat to Giannis last year, Gobert comes back motivated and wins it.

MO: Anthony Davis, Los Angeles Lakers

I think AD got robbed of Defensive Player of the year last year, so I think voters are going to try and make up for it this year.

PF: Anthony Davis

Anthony Davis made the All-Defensive First-Team last season for the second time in his career and is one of if not the best defensive power forward in the league. Being a big is almost a prerequisite of winning Defensive Player of the Year. Davis will be the anchor in the post of one of the best defensive teams in the league in the Lakers. All of the stars are aligning for this to be the year AD becomes the overall best player in the NBA, surpassing teammate Lebron James and taking the mantle away from Giannis even for just a year or two.

PL: Bam Adebayo, Miami Heat

Last season Adebayo showed how impactful he can be on the defensive end with an average of 1.1 steals and 1.3 blocks, but what fans noticed even more was his defense against last year’s MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo. He will continue to improve upon that and will act as an anchor for Miami’s defense.

Final count: Bam Adebayo 2, Anthony Davis 2, Rudy Gobert 1
