The Minnesota Timberwolves have added more wing depth to their roster ahead of the start of preseason play.

With their preseason schedule set to start on Saturday night, the Minnesota Timberwolves are still adding to their training camp roster.

Yes, there’s still both a guaranteed roster spot available and a two-way slot, but the Wolves have added yet another wing player to a training camp deal, bringing the total number of players in camp to 19.

The Wolves already had 18 players under contract, including training camp invitees on non-guaranteed deals such as veteran Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, former Cavs and Nuggets two-way player Tyler Cook, and Ade Murkey, an Exhibit 10 contract signee who will spend the season in the G League.

Now, the Wolves have signed Charlie Brown Jr. to a training camp deal. Brown is a 6-foot-6 guard with long arms (no listed wingspan) and a solid-looking shoot stroke. He was a consistent shooter and scorer at St. Joseph’s before joining the Atlanta Hawks last season on a two-way contract.

In his sophomore season at St. Joe’s, Brown put up 19 points and 6.2 rebounds per game while shooting 35.6 percent on 3-point attempts. As a freshman, he made 38.4 percent of his long-range attempts but shot only 37.5 percent from the field.

Brown’s shortcomings are mostly related to his shooting inconsistencies; he had shooting splits (field goal, 3-point, and free throw percentages) of only .422/.268/.870 with the College Park Skyhawks of the G League. He appeared in 10 games with the Atlanta Hawks.

Brown’s size and playmaking ability is intriguing, and the Wolves clearly see this as an opportunity to add him to the fold as depth in the preseason and a key member of the Iowa Wolves throughout the year.

The Wolves have enough NBA caliber talent on the wing at this point, but good depth is important, and especially in a year with plenty of unknowns.

We’ll have to see if Brown, or any of the other non-roster invitees, get much run during the preseason, which gets underway against Memphis on Saturday night and then continues on Monday against the same Grizzlies.
