The Minnesota Timberwolves are currently tied for the worst record in the NBA, and are going up against a playoff-bound Western Conference powerhouse in the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are back at home after a five-game road trip which they only won a single game. The Los Angeles Clippers, 17-8, are currently the third seed in the Western Conference, and are coming off of a 3-day-long break.

That said, the Timberwolves are going to have their All-NBA center Karl-Anthony Towns back after he tested positive with COVID-19 almost a month ago – and in games he has played, the Timberwolves are significantly better.

The Timberwolves only need to become a top-10 seed in the Western Conference this year to have a chance to make the playoffs. Seeds 7-10 will participate in a play-in series. That said, Minnesota needs to go on a win streak soon or else everything is moot.

Minnesota Timberwolves odds vs Los Angeles Clippers

The Minnesota Timberwolves are about nine-point underdogs to the Los Angeles Clippers at home (The Action Network), however, these odds might be adjusted as it was just announced that Karl-Anthony Towns will be playing.

What to watch for in Minnesota Timberwolves vs Los Angeles Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers are at full strength after starting the first month of their season with a few different injuries to major rotational players. Kawhi Leonard is having arguably his best season, averaging 26 points, six rebounds, and five assists per game on 50/38/89. Paul George is also quietly having a really good season, posting extremely efficient 50/45/90 splits.

The Timberwolves, on the other hand, are going to have to find a way to neutralize at least one of those players. Josh Okogie is one of the best perimeter defenders in the league, but players such as Malik Beasley and Anthony Edwards are going to have to step up.

Karl-Anthony Towns is going to give the Timberwolves a boost, but almost assuredly will not save them entirely. Tonight will have to be a team effort.

UPDATE: Karl-Anthony Towns tweeted in response to the report that stated he was expected to play tonight.
